Jacksonville: One Mother’s Journey to the Autism Spectrum
I didn’t expect to have a child on the autism spectrum. I also didn’t expect the changes it would bring to my life. What would I tell my 35-year-old self about wanting to be in control of everything? Read about my journey and see what I learned with regard to God’s faithfulness, the importance of community, and the inner workings of pipe organs. From fear, sadness, and desperation came acceptance and hope. But it did not happen overnight. If this book can help one parent of an autistic child feel that they are not alone I will consider it a success.

A story can go where quantitative analysis is denied admission: Your heart. Data can persuade people but it doesn’t inspire them to act. To do that, you need to wrap your vision in a story that fires the imagination and stirs the soul. When you can get people to feel, you can get people to act. We are a network of people and organizations dedicated to the art of digital storytelling. Digital stories are multi-media presentations that combine photographs, video, graphic animation, sound, music, text, and narrative noise. Does your organization have a backstory? What event caused you to develop your product or service line? Does the public know how endearing your brand personality really is? The world needs to hear your story.

The Jacksonville Foundation
T he Jacksonville Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 2018 to celebrate neurodiversity and the arts. We believe that every person deserves a platform on which to showcase their talents. We give voice to those who are very much a part of our world, but whose stories often go untold. Our inaugural event, Jacksonville’s Night of Cabaret, was held at The Cat Theatre in Carmel, Indiana on November 5, 2019. We are thrilled to be returning “post covid” in 2023.
